Where is God’s Country?
Updated: Jan 19, 2021
Genesis 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

I’ve heard different people over time, when referring to certain areas of the country, say, “this is God’s country over here!”, or “that’s God’s country over there!”. Well, I’ve recently been taking my family on Sunday afternoon nature excursions. Just recently I've come to realize that everywhere the sun touches is truly God's Country!

Vacationing is more about the state of mind so if we can find more moments to vacate and rest from the hustle and bustle, then we’ll be better equipped to handle the challenges of the day. We've gone to several nature preserves within an hour and a half travel distance from our home. Some of those places are Matthiessen State Park in Oglesby, IL, the Oak Forest Heritage Preserve in Oak Forest, IL and Hickory Creek Preserve in Mokena, IL. These places exhibit beautiful landscapes, peppered with amazing tree lines, flowers and wildlife. It has been a peaceful and calming experience amidst all of the chaos that may seek our daily attention. My advice is to get out of the house, get some sunshine (Vitamin D) and fresh air, and enjoy the time with loved ones. I call that “time well spent” on a Summer afternoon.
